Biography: Sir Richard Hadlee, born on 3rd July 1951 in Christchurch, New Zealand, is one of the greatest all-rounders in cricket history. He was a prolific right-arm fast bowler and a dependable left-handed batsman. Hadlee made his Test debut on 12th February 1973 and went on to become a cricketing legend.

Throughout his illustrious career, Hadlee played 86 Test matches and 115 ODIs for New Zealand. He scored two centuries in Test matches and two in ODIs, along with 15 half-centuries in Tests and 5 in ODIs. However, he also faced 11 ducks in Tests and 17 in ODIs.

Hadlee was known for his ability to convert starts into big scores, but he experienced nervous nineties on two occasions in Tests and once in ODIs. His exceptional bowling skills were highlighted by the staggering 431 wickets in Test matches and 158 wickets in ODIs.

Besides his prowess as a player, Hadlee also took on the responsibility of captaining the New Zealand team in 18 Test matches and 14 ODIs. His leadership qualities and match-winning performances earned him the “Man of the Match” title multiple times.
